Přikládám i originální znění dopisu:
Hello Thomas,
thanks for your commendations. This weapon is shown in the sketchbook of Villard de Honnecourt (France, ca. 1230, here without spikes at the rear) and a lot in the Maciejowski-Bible (France, ca. 1250, http://www.medievaltymes.com/courtyard/ ... images.htm). There is an extraordinary weapon of - maybe - similar type in the 'Life of King Edward the confessor' (England, 1250-1260, EDIT Bahnak: nefunkční odkaz. I think that this type of weapon disappeared around 1300 with the spreading of stronger plate armor (coat of plates) - because only the 'normal' falchions are able to slide off these plates.
I have more informations on my old pages, but it will take some time until it is on our new homepage.
